Lever for Change, in partnership with the Crankstart Foundation, has issued a request for applications for its Boundless San Francisco program. This opportunity is open to proposals from anywhere in the world, in any subject area, for projects that will primarily benefit San Francisco, with no more than 25% of project activities aimed at benefitting the broader Bay Area.
Successful proposals will pair an ambitious vision for San Francisco's future with a clear, credible plan to build it and make it last. Rather than implementing short-term interventions, these proposals will present solutions rooted in community, built to endure, and capable of advancing innovative ideas in San Francisco.
Three to seven Finalists will be selected, each receiving a project development grant (the pool totals $1–3.5 million) and technical assistance to develop their proposal further. Up to three of those Finalists will be selected to receive an award of $10–50 million each to carry out their project. In addition to grant funding, applicants may request flexible, below-market capital (such as a low-interest loan).
Interested applicants are encouraged to use the Organizational Readiness Tool assessment to determine their eligibility. Internal and external collaborations are allowed, and for-profit entities may participate. The lead organization will serve as the Awardee.
