The Foundation for Prader-Willi Research (FPWR) has issued a request for applications for its Grant Program. FPWR accepts applications in all areas of research relevant to Prader-Willi Syndrome (PWS) and Schaaf-Yang Syndrome (SYS), but is especially interested in projects that will lead to new interventions to alleviate the symptoms associated with PWS. Areas of particular interest include:
- Genotype to phenotype: understanding PWS genetics / how loss of PWS-critical region genes leads to the phenotype
- Neurobiology of hunger / feeding behavior and metabolism in PWS
- Neurobiology of cognition, maladaptive behavior, and mental health in PWS
- Clinical care research: evaluation of existing drugs and interventions to improve the significant clinical concerns in PWS
- Therapeutics development for PWS- Genetic therapies; novel or repurposed pharmaceuticals; and devices
Up to $150,000, including up to 8% indirect costs, will be awarded for a project period of up to 18 months.
Eligibility criteria include:
- Principal Investigators must have a primary faculty appointment at the level of Instructor or higher.
