On behalf of the Mount. Zion Health Fund Board of Directors, you are invited to participation in a special call for proposals for initiatives that advance health equity, patient well-being, and academic-community collaboration in alignment with MZHF’s restricted fund purposes. Mount Zion Health Fund reflects the Jewish values and legacy of Mount Zion Hospital by supporting programs and research that improve the physical, emotional and spiritual health of vulnerable populations in San Francisco. Further details, including criteria and submission instructions, are included in the Request for Proposals (RFP).
The deadline for submission is January 23, 2026. Grant recipients will be notified by late March. Grant awards will be up to $120K and will be sent out in one payment. We anticipate awarding 5 - 10 grants ranging in size from $10K - $120K. A report of use of funds is required at the close of the grant period which is 12- 24 months, with any unused funds returned to Mount Zion Health Fund. Priority funding will be given to projects addressing patient care and research.
Patient Care - addressing unmet or emerging health needs among financially vulnerable populations enhancing access or continuity of care for low-income, uninsured, or underinsured individuals. All projects need a direct connection to the Mt. Zion campus and priority will be given to projects addressing cancer care, cardiovascular, and pediatric service but other patient-related areas will also be considered. Multidisciplinary approaches that restore care momentum in areas impacted by federal resource constraints—particularly where these intersect with Mt. Zion Health Fund priorities, including cancer care, mental health, pediatric vaccines, and transgender health—will also be prioritized.
Research and Collaboration – All projects need a direct connection to the Mt. Zion campus and priority will be given to those in cancer and cardiology, but other clinical areas will be considered. Multidisciplinary approaches in research in areas impacted by federal resource constraints—particularly where these intersect with Mt. Zion Health Fund priorities, including cancer care, mental health, pediatric vaccines, and transgender health—will also be prioritized.
