The Society of Family Planning has three opportunities open now:
Documenting the efficacy, safety, and acceptability of medication abortion up to 97 days
- Purpose: To fund one prospective non-inferiority cohort study that compares outcomes of mifepristone and misoprostol medication abortion among individuals at different estimated gestational durations who are receiving in-person ultrasound. Proposed research must compare a comparison group receiving care within the FDA-approved estimated gestational duration (≤70 days of gestation) to a study group extending from 71 days up to an endpoint chosen by the study team that is ≤97 days of gestation. The proposed research must be a multi-site study conducted in outpatient clinical settings in the US.
- Budget and Project Period: Up to $950,000, including up to 20% indirect costs, will be awarded for a 3-year project period.

Researching the implementation of over-the-counter oral contraceptives
- Purpose: To fund research projects that produce actionable, evidence-based insights to guide implementation efforts related to over-the-counter daily oral contraceptives and advance equitable contraceptive access in the US. Please note that this funding opportunity does not support the development of interventions or implementation activities, but rather research related to such activities.
- Budget and Project Period: Up to $175,000, including up to 20% indirect costs, will be awarded for a 2-year project period.

Bridging investments in abortion and contraception research
- Purpose: To support the completion or partial completion of terminated NIH grants focused on abortion and/or contraception in the US, ensuring that research efforts still have their intended impact on just and equitable abortion and contraception informed by science.
- Budget and Project Period: Up to $100,000, including up to 20% indirect costs, will be awarded for a project period of up to 2 years. https://osr.ucsf.edu/
- Deadline: Proposals may be submitted on a rolling basis. Awards will be announced to applicants within a month of submission and funds will be available for immediate use.
