National Psoriasis Foundation 2026 Grants

Dear Colleagues,

The National Psoriasis Foundation has five opportunities open now, all for work focused on the treatment, prevention, and cure of psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis (PsA), and comorbidities:

Discovery Grants

  • Purpose: Discovery Grants fund researchers while they explore preliminary ideas and conduct proof-of-concept experiments. The goal is to stimulate the development of new research programs in the field of psoriatic disease capable of competing for long-term funding from the National Institutes of Health or similar agencies in the future.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent academic degree and be eligible to apply as a Principal Investigator by their institution.
  • Budget and Project Period: Up to $75,000, direct costs only, for 1 year.

Early Career Research Grants

  • Purpose: This award aims to support early-career researchers, integrating them into the psoriatic disease research community of scientists, clinicians, and patients. Recipients are expected to be well positioned to apply for future NPF Discovery or Translational Research Grants and build successful, long-term careers in psoriatic disease research.
  • Eligibility: Applicants may include postdoctoral researchers, fellows, and other trainee level positions, and must be personally and actively responsible for the conduct of the proposed research.
  • Budget and Project Period: Up to $50,000, direct costs only, for 1 year.

Psoriatic Disease Research Fellowships

  • Purpose: To provide support to eligible institutions to develop and enhance opportunities for physicians training for research careers in psoriatic disease.
  • Eligibility: Psoriatic Disease Research Fellowships may take place at any institution with an eligible fellowship program and devote at least 75% of their effort to research during the project period. Fellowships are primarily intended for those who already hold an MD, however applications to support exceptionally promising medical students will be accepted. The fellow cannot be a faculty member, or in a residency program, during the project period.
  • Budget and Project Period: Up to $50,000, direct costs only, for 1 year.

Translational Research Grants

  • Purpose: Translational Research Grants fund research initiatives that focus on the rapid translation of basic scientific discoveries into clinical applications with a clear benefit for patients with psoriatic disease.
  • Eligibility: Applicants must hold an MD, PhD, or equivalent academic degree and be eligible to apply as a Principal Investigator by their institution.
  • Budget and Project Period: Up to $100,000 per year, direct costs only, for 2 years.

Bridge Grants

  • Purpose: To support researchers who have submitted meritorious but unfunded K-type and R-type applications to the NIH (or similar funding body) with a focus on psoriatic disease or its comorbidities.
  • Eligibility: The principal investigator must be personally and actively responsible for the conduct of the proposed research, and eligible to apply for research grants under the guidelines of the applicant’s host institution. The project proposed must have been submitted as an unfunded application for either a K-type or R-type (or equivalent) award focused on psoriasis, psoriatic arthritis, or related comorbidities.
  • Budget and Project Period: Up to $50,000, direct costs only, for a K-type bridge or up to $100,000, direct costs only, for an R-type bridge, for 1 year.
