Due to staffing shortages and the potential for COVID-related absences, the Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) is preparing for a slowdown in services that may affect proposal preparation during the first quarter of 2022.

OSR encourages early notification of intent to apply for extramural funding. Currently, OSR requires notification at least 30 days prior to the Sponsor’s submission deadline for standard solicitations. OSR staff will make every effort to submit a proposal but cannot guarantee a sponsor and University compliant proposal or an on-time submission.

If notification is received within 2-weeks of the due date OSR may delay the application to the next NIH submission cycle or to the next cycle if applicable for non-NIH applications. Exception will be provided for opportunities that have short turnaround times, e.g. COVID FOAs.
