- Understand the order of precendence
- Be able to determine PI status
- Understand what constitutes as cost sharing and program income
- Know the COI requirements
- Know regulatory requirements, such as IRB, IACUC, foreign influence, special funding considerations and data sharing)
- Have a basic understanding of the subcontract process
- Be able to appropriately distinguish (or know when to escalate to distinguish) between subcontracts and vendor contracts
