NIH SALARY CAP FOR FY 2019

NIH

NOT-OD-19-099 announces that effective January 6, 2019, the salary limitation for Executive Level II increased from $189,600 to $192,300.  The salary limitation applies to NIH grants, cooperative agreements, and extramural research and development contract awards.

The Office of Sponsored Research (OSR) has started using the new salary cap on all new, renewal, resubmission, and revision NIH proposals.  To do so, eProposal has been updated to include the new Salary Cap option: $192,300- FY2019 NIH Salary Cap 01/06/19-Forward.  As a reminder, budget justifications should indicate when personnel are over the salary cap.

Rebudgeting of funds is allowed to accommodate the new salary cap on existing awards; however, no additional funds will be provided by the sponsor.  Additional guidance for existing awards will follow in the Controller’s Newsletter scheduled for publication on May 1, 2019.
